We make authentic reproduction Ammunition Packing
Boxes as described in the 1862 Ordnance Manual. According
to the manual, the boxes were painted an olive color
which is more of a brownish tone than the modern day
olive green. We also have plain pine boxes that are
more appropriate for Confederate units.

The box lids were fastened with six 1.75 inch screws. We
produce two different styles. Our regular style lid is braced to stay in place yet it can be completely taken off.

The second style is hinged in the
back so that the lid can be freely opened and closed. In
both, shorter screws are in the lids to create the
appearance that they are secured. The boxes are 7 inches tall, 11 inches wide and 15 inches long. With the handles, it is then 17 1/2 inches long. The inside is big enough to store just about anything as it is 5 1/2 deep, 9 1/4 wide and 13 1/4 long.
